Friends of Jesus Christ
by Darcy
L. Watkins
He that has the bride is the bridegroom: but
the friend of the bridegroom, which stands and hears
him, rejoices greatly because of the bridegroom's voice:
this my joy therefore is fulfilled. He must increase,
but I must decrease. (John 3:29,30)
Here we see John the Baptist expressing the attitude
of a Friend of Jesus Christ. He delights in giving Christ
the preeminence in ministry.
This attitude is important for those in ministry today,
particularly those in up front ministries such
as worship leading and preaching.
We need to ensure that we direct people towards Christ
and then get out of the way. We then ought
to rejoice when our particular phase of ministry completes
its course and its time for God to move in the
next one.
We ought to always give Christ the preeminence, (Col
1:18).
